Topic #3

My third and final topic is that of Global Warming. If I pick this topic I will research the causes of this worldwide threat, how it is effecting us, how it will continue to effect us, and what we can do to stop the progression of this global threat.

Topic #2

For my second choice I am picking to research Iraq. As if we didn't know already we are in a war and this country is the focal point. I plan to research the orgin of Iraq, the past relations our two coutnries have had, our current position, and what the future will supposedly hold.

Research Topic

My number one choice for a research topic is; The role music played in breaking down the barriers of racism. I chose this topic becuase I am a history major and I am acutally taking a class that focuses solely on the 1960's. And it was during the 50's and 60's that racism and segregation were still widespread in our nation. But it was also during these decades that a new music genre, Rock and Roll, emerged and it was this genre that for the first time appealed to the masses of not only whites but blacks as well. And the roots of the civil rights movement can be found in the music if one looks hard enough to find them. I plan to discuss this new musical movements, the segregation laws and civil rights of the decade, some musicians that exemplify these ideas, and discuss just exactly how the music helped defeat racism nationwide.
